I have some big news to share.

I’m winding down my coaching practice over the next two years as I ease into retirement.

Here’s a quick summary of my downshifting plans:

  • Through the end of 2025, I’ll continue working with current clients and welcoming new ones. I’ll be stepping back from actively promoting my practice so I can redirect my time toward other interests. (Believe it or not, marketing takes more of my time than coaching does!)
  • That means I’m still here and eager to work with anyone who feels drawn to my program. Whether you’re a current or returning client or you’re ready to explore grief coaching for the first time, I’d love to hear from you. You can book appointments through my website by clicking here or emailing me directly at cindy@shadowlandscoaching.com
  • Referrals are welcome through the end of the year. Please continue to refer me to friends and family throughout 2025. Share my contact information from above and encourage them to set up a no-cost discovery call. Just be sure to tell them to get on my schedule before December 31, 2025.
  • Starting in January 2026, I’ll be available to existing clients only. To be on my existing client list, you must have a signed coaching agreement with me dated December 31, 2025, or earlier. If you’ve worked with me in the past, you’re also welcome to schedule time with me in 2026, even if we don’t connect this year (2025).
  • My coaching practice will officially be closed on December 31, 2026.

  • Memento Mori

I started building my grief coaching practice in 2018, after my mother passed. Losing my mother was the most intense experience of my life and I felt alone emotionally. I built my practice to provide the type of support that I wanted in my bereavement.

Grief coaching has been a profound experience for me. It has deepened my appreciation for the strength, resilience, and perseverance of my fellow human beings. Facing the worst experiences of their lives, my clients engage with their grief and find their way back to creating vibrant, meaningful lives.

Grief changes my clients. Working with them changes me.

Life is only precious because it ends, kid ~ Rick Riordan, author, from  The Lightning Thief

Our work together also drove home some tough truths that I’ve avoided most of my life.

I’m more aware that the stability I enjoy is tenuous. Life can turn on a dime in ways we never anticipate.

I feel the finiteness of my days. I feel the fact that I don’t know how many I have left. The clock is ticking and, if I’m going to pursue some lifelong passions and dreams, I better get to it.

So, I’m ready to bring my grief coaching practice to a close.

I’ll be doing it gradually over the next two years. That means clients will still have ample opportunity to work with me, as long as they don’t wait too long.

Let me lay out my plan so you can see how my availability will change over the next 18 months or so.

    The 2025 Plan

My 1:1 coaching program will go on as usual through December 31, 2025. I love grief coaching and am eager to take on new clients.

In fact, it would be great if this was my most active coaching year yet.

However, I’ll be stepping back from actively promoting my business going forward. I’ve grown weary of the marketing, networking, and sales hustle. So, I’ll be relying primarily on getting clients through referrals and through my website.

By all means, please set up a call with me if you want to explore grief or life coaching or email me at cindy@shadowlandscoaching.com. And continue to refer friends and family.

Whatever my clients and I start in 2025, we’ll complete our work together. Everyone will get the same level of care and attention that I’ve given all of my clients over the years.

    The 2026 Plan

Just be sure to schedule a discovery call before December 31, 2025.

Starting January 1, 2026, I’ll only work with people on my existing client list. That list is composed of anyone who’s actively working with me or has worked with me in the past.

New clients usually sign up for coaching packages that last one to five months. So, anyone who starts a coaching program with me will be able to finish before I close my practice permanently.

My former clients who want to sign up for a one-time session throughout 2026 will be welcome to do so.

Future of Postcards from The Shadowlands

I plan to keep sending out my monthly(ish) newsletter Postcards from the Shadowlands for the foreseeable future. My topics may broaden to include transitioning into retirement, which I’m finding to be deceptively tricky. It may provide good fodder for my writing.

I'm a writer to the core. I started writing and sharing my work as far back as elementary school. And there's one thing every writer wants.

    Readers!

So, thank you from the bottom of my heart for subscribing to Postcards from the Shadowlands.

I hope you’ll stick around and stay in touch!

Now you know all the changes ahead for Shadowlands Coaching.

There’s one thing that will never change, though.

    You’re always in my heart.
